*See below for Important Notice for individulas who contacted WTLS for services between April 7 and May 8.

During these uncertain times, West Tennessee Legal Services (WTLS) remains a vital service to our low-income neighbors who need civil legal help. We continue to provide a full range of civil legal services including representing victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and financial exploitation; preventing tenants from being unlawfully evicted; enforcing fair housing laws; helping senior citizens; providing help with garnishments; and helping people with consumer debt.

We are restricting access to our offices for the safety of both our clients and our staff.  Clients will only be allowed in our offices by appointment and when we are unable to provide services by other means. While we are restricting access to our offices, our staff remains able to provide legal help. For legal help, call us at 1-800-372-8346, ext. 250 or (731) 423-0616 to speak with our intake paralegals. Existing clients may call 1-800-372-8346 and use the directory to contact their casehandler.

*Important Notice Re: Contacting WTLS for Services:

We recently changed our secure data server and just learned that our online intake was not reconnected to our new secure server. Online applications are held on the server in a secure location for a very brief time and then the information is destroyed. This means that WTLS did not receive online applications from April 7, 2020 through noon, May 8, 2020. Anyone who completed an online application during that time will need to complete another one or call 1-800-372-8346, ext. 250, to speak with an intake paralegal.

Also, on May 6, 2020 our phone system went down. Our phone service provider had to order equipment to fix this problem. As of noon, May 8th, our phones are working. We remain available to help and apologize for any inconvenience.
